My name is Captain Shawn Lanier and I appreciate you visiting the Fish-On Guide Service website. Just like you I was not born and raised here in Venice, so I had to learn the area over time and figure out how to fish it. I know that choosing a guide can be difficult, it is a roll of the dice. Most of my business comes from referral from people that have been fishing with me in the past. Take a look at my fishing reports also, if you have a minute... These are the Fish my fishing charter service targets, using light tackle fishing gear, in the Venice area: Red Fish or Redfish, Speckled Trout and Tripletail (in season) in the fertile delta at the mouth of the Mississippi River. Because of their location at the mouth of the river, the Venice LA fishing grounds attract so many fish that it makes me look like a phenomenal fishing pro. The truth is, after fishing the area since 1991, and being a USCG licensed fishing guide since 2003, I've learned the marsh and the river system surrounding Venice LA.  I know the fish patterns and I check the weather conditions, so I can put you on the fish. I really enjoy taking folks out to catch the Red Fish,also calledred fishing or redfishing and Speckled Trout (Specks). If you are a beginner-no problem, I will teach you how to get the fish hooked and netted. If you have experience, great, you can probably show me a thing or two that you may have learned fishing somewhere else in the world.

I think there are a couple of things that make my guide service different that some others. First, I am not, nor do I want to be an "industrial scale" sportfishing operation. I don't want to be a booking agent. If you book a trip with me, you are fishing with me. I know other guides I can set you up with if I am booked on the dates you need. I just want to enjoy making a living doing what I like best. Second, I get excited when my clients get excited catching fish, especially the big Redfish. I makes me happy. Though being a guide is hard work, I have a good time being on the water. I value my days off as well.  

Don't worry, Captain Shawn will never get mad at anyone because they missed a fish. The fishing trip is about you relaxing and enjoying yourself, it's not about me.
