We are located in Venice, Louisiana and our Fishing Charters are in the vast Mississippi Delta. So if you want to have a good time targeting Redfish (Red Fish, Reds, Red Drum, Spot Tail) and/or Speckled Trout (Specks, Spotted Sea Trout) and other fish on artificial lures, then Fish On Guide Service will most likely work out for you. Venice, Louisiana is the place to fish! Here at the mouth of the Mississippi River it is for sure the Redfish capital of the world. A vast majority of my clients want to target the big Bull Redfish, and these big Redfish actually strike artificial lures better than live bait. Here in Venice, the Mississippi Delta holds the world's largest population of 20 to 30 pound Bull Redfish, and they stay in this area all year long. We catch these big bull Red Fish 12 months out of the year! Bull Redfishing in Venice, Louisiana has become a tradition for many of our clients. We are happy to see them every year and sometimes twice a year!

The Louisiana Gulf Coast and more particularly Venice is home to many inshore fishing guides and I know that choosing a guide or charter captain can be difficult if you have not fished with them before. It is a roll of the dice. I do not have any big time credentials to impress you with. However, I do have a lot of satisfied fiscessful at finding the fish. Back in the day when I attended the Citadel, I remember being assigned to give a report on General Dwight Eisenhower. He was quoted as saying:" a plan is useless, but planning is invaluable". It sure is like that when it comes to fishing. We constantly have to adapt to different conditions Mother Nature gives us and figure out what the fish are doing for the day. 
Most of my business comes from referrals from people that have had a good time fishing with me in the past. These are the Fish my fishing charter service targets, using light tackle fishing gear, in the Venice area: Bull Redfish (they go offshore to spawn the last 3 weeks of September thus harder to find inshore) Slot Redfish (all year long), Speckled Trout ( April- May and October- November)  and Tripletail ( late September through November) in the fertile delta at the mouth of the Mississippi River. Because their location at the mouth of the river, the Venice Louisiana fishing grounds attract many fish!                                                                                     

The truth is, after first fishing the area since 1991, and being a USCG licensed fishing guide since 2003, I've learned the marsh and the river system surrounding Venice LA. I know the fish patterns and I check the weather conditions, so I can put you on the fish. I really enjoy taking folks out to catch the Redfish, also called red fishing or redfishing and fish for other species. If you are a beginner-no problem, I will teach you how to get the fish hooked and netted. If you have experience, great, you can probably show me a thing or two that you may have learned fishing somewhere else in the world.

I think there are a couple of things that make my guide service different that some others. First, I am not, nor do I want to be an "industrial scale" sport-fishing operation. I don't want to be a booking agent. If you book a trip with me, you are fishing with me or an experienced licensed Captain that I work closely and often with. I just want to enjoy making a living doing what I like best: fishing and navigating a boat in an awesome estuary with good people. Second, I get excited when my clients get excited catching fish, especially the big Bull Redfish. I fell into targeting the Bull Red Fish because I started getting a lot of repeat business from clients that got so pumped up about catching those brutes! It makes me happy to see my clients get excited about their catch. It is heart pumping action to catch those Bull Reds. Most of my clients can catch the smaller keeper size fish to eat where they live but not those big Bull Redfish (20+LB with a good chance of catching heavier fish!) Though being a guide is hard work, I have a good time being on the water. I value my days off as well.

Don't worry, Captain Shawn will never get mad at anyone because they missed a fish. The fishing trip is about you relaxing and enjoying yourself, it's not about me being mister perfect..
